February Premier League Update

Teddy Brita: Grade 8

February saw another exciting month of action in the Premier League. Arsenal had its usual up and down month, starting with a disappointing 0-0 draw at home against Southampton and then going on to a comfortable 2-0 away win against Bournemouth. The weekend after, they played a massive game against in-form Leicester City, with Danny Welbeck scoring a dramatic 90th-minute winner. Two weeks later, they fell (deservedly, it must be said) to a vintage Manchester United, 3-2 at Old Trafford. At the end of the month, they were in second place.

Leicester City has managed to stay at the top of the table as its fine run of form continues. The month started with a Jamie Vardy brace against Liverpool, with one of the goals an absolute beauty from range. They then went on to beat Manchester City 3-1 in Manchester, before losing to Arsenal. They bounced back quickly, however, snatching a hard-fought 1-0 win against Norwich. Tottenham also established itself as a title contender, winning all of its games in February. The squad started with a convincing 3-0 win against Norwich and then beat Watford 1-0, thanks to a beautiful Heung Min-Son back heel flick. The team firmly entrenched itself (and removed Manchester City from) the title race with a 2-1 win at the Etihad. The players finished the month with a gritty 2-1 comeback home win against Swansea. It is truly shaping up to an epic title race this spring.
