On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, the annual Festival Of The Arts took place at Buckley to appreciate and celebrate the visual and performing arts. Throughout the year, students from first through eighth grade prepared to present their accomplishments. Then, on this evening, the Lower School students displayed the artwork throughout the building. The Upper Schoolers performed various numbers that they had learned in their electives. These performances consisted of band, percussion, chorus, and various dance numbers.

First, the percussion students performed “Baba O’Riley” by The Who. Then the band performed “Closer,” followed by the chorus who sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. The dancers then performed two dances: “Young and Beautiful,” featuring the seventh grade, and “Fly,” choreographed by the eighth grade.

Next, eighth-grader Cyrus Liu and sixth-grader Lucas Sher performed a classical duet on the piano. Then, the strings ensemble performed “Praeludium and Allegro.” The dance troupe followed this musical piece with “Ocean Eyes” as their finale, and the chorus closed the show with the crowd favorite, “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey.

Overall, the Festival Of The Arts gave students the opportunity to express their love for the arts and to show off their accomplishments. This event has always been an important and thrilling tradition celebrated at Buckley.
