Anna Tsioulias: Grade 8
A friendly turtle was spotted near Buckley on October 19, at around 5:15 p.m. A family who lived nearby saw the turtle in the middle of the road and decided to protect it. While they were waiting for the police to come, they fed the turtle lettuce and gave him water to keep him cool.
When the authorities came, they suspected the turtle came from a nearby pond. The turtle was classified as the Graptemys geographica, a turtle commonly found in ponds in the northeast. The turtle was safely returned to his habitat after the police came.
