It’s finally here! The esteemed New York Times best selling author Rick Riordan has released the first book of a promising new series about the gods of Asgard called Magnus Chase And The Gods Of Asgard, Book 1: The Sword of Summer. A lesser-known area of mythology, Norse mythology was practiced by the Vikings. You may not realize it, but many of you already know two of the gods of Asgard. Loki and Thor are both prominent characters in this story, but they do not appear in either a green jumpsuit with horns or a metal suit with boots. Rick Riordan delves deep into Norse mythology, while adding a light sense of humor that appeals to all age groups.

The main character, Magnus Chase, is the cousin of Annabeth from the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series. Magnus goes on a quest to stop Ragnarok, or Doomsday. With help from his friends, Magnus embarks on an amazing journey that will leave you speechless.

The Sword of Summer is an outstanding book with an abundance of comedy, action, and adventure. It is an incredible read, and I recommend it to all.
