The NBA Seasons Returns

Teddy Brita: Grade 8

The NBA season has officially started, and all of the excitement and drama are back with it. There are plenty of teams who can call themselves championship contenders. Last year’s champions, the Golden State Warriors, return with their entire team intact, minus David Lee. The Cleveland Cavaliers still have their stellar “Big Three” of Lebron James, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Ivring, along with a strong supporting cast. Red / Blue Spirit Day

Max Lunievicz: Grade 8

Friday, September 25, was Spirit Day at Buckley! Students were given the opportunity to wear either a shirt and/or accessory of the color of their team to represent their team spirit. This enthusiasm was clearly shown in the Spirit Assembly, which accepts new students into the Red or Blue team. In addition, team spirit was shown through the annual Red/Blue cheer, where eighth-grade team captains teach their team a song with lyrics replaced by Field Day-related words. This year, the Red team’s song was based off of “Cheerleader” by Omi, and the Blue team’s song was based off of “Drag Me Down” by One Direction.Read More »

The Golden Door, by Emily Rodda

Max Lunievicz: Grade 7

The Golden Door takes place on a fantasy island and is almost a typical fantasy book from there. It starts in a city called Weld, with poisonous creatures called Skimmers attacking the city every night all through the summer. The period that they attack is increasing every year, and no one knows where they come from or why they come. Weld is surrounded by giant walls. Supposedly no one knows what is outside, only that Weld takes up most of the island.
